poručivati

1. (food, goods) to order
   Petkom uvek poručujemo picu. — We always order pizza on Fridays.
   Sve češće poručujem garderobu preko interneta. — I order clothes online more and more often.
2. (+ dat., da…) to send word; to tell
   Mama mi stalno poručuje da joj se češće javljam. — Mum keeps sending word that I should call her more often.
   Ministar poručuje građanima da budu strpljivi. — The minister is telling citizens to be patient.

When it means 'order' it takes the accusative (poručivati hranu); when it means 'send word' it usually takes a dative of the person plus a da-clause or an accusative of the message (poručivati nekome nešto).
