2. (zbližiti se s + instr.) to become close; to become friends
   Na fakultetu sam se zbližila s cimerkom. — At university I became close with my roommate.
   Njih dvojica su se brzo zbližili. — The two of them quickly became close.

In the sense 'become close' it takes se: zbližiti se s nekim.
