1. (of a view, light) to block; to obstruct
   Nova zgrada nam zaklanja pogled na reku. — The new building blocks our view of the river.

2. to shield; to screen
   Zaklanjala je oči rukom od sunca. — She was shielding her eyes from the sun with her hand.
3. (zaklanjati se) to take shelter; to hide
   Ljudi su se zaklanjali od kiše ispod nadstrešnice. — People were sheltering from the rain under the awning.
4. (zaklanjati se iza) to hide behind
   Stalno se zaklanja iza propisa. — He's always hiding behind the rules.

The perfective is zakloniti; what one is shielded from takes od + genitive.
