   Izgledao je patetično dok ju je molio da mu oprosti. — He looked pathetic begging her to forgive him.

In standard Serbian patetično means 'overly sentimental, melodramatic, full of pathos'. The meaning 'pitiful, pathetic' is a calque of English pathetic; it is common in colloquial speech, especially among young people, but is considered nonstandard. For that meaning use jadno or bedno.
