   Pročitala sam njegovu osmrtnicu u novinama. — I read his obituary in the newspaper.
   Na vratima zgrade bila je osmrtnica. — There was a death notice on the door of the building.

In Serbia the usual words are čitulja (mostly a newspaper notice) or umrlica (mostly a notice posted on a pole or door); osmrtnica is less common in Serbia.
