modar

1. (of skin) bruised; blue

   Dete je izašlo iz mora modrih usana. — The child came out of the sea with blue lips.
2. formal dark blue; deep blue
   Gledali smo modro more sa terase. — We looked at the deep blue sea from the terrace.

For the color itself people usually say plav or teget; modar is typical for bruises.
