jel

1. colloq. (at the start of a question) introduces a yes/no question
   Jel si gladan? — Are you hungry?
   Jel ideš sutra na posao? — Are you going to work tomorrow?
2. colloq. (at the end of a sentence) right?; isn't it?
   Ti si iz Novog Sada, jel? — You're from Novi Sad, right?
   Lepo je ovde, jel da? — It's nice here, isn't it?

Jel is a colloquial, nonstandard spelling of the contraction je l' (from je li), common in chats and text messages. Standard Serbian phrases such questions differently: Jesi li gladan? / Da li si gladan?; Ideš li sutra na posao? / Da li ideš sutra na posao?
