1. (in cakes, pies, dishes) filling; cream
   Mama pravi fil od čokolade za tortu. — Mom is making a chocolate filling for the cake.
   Ove kore sa filom su baš ukusne. — These cake layers with cream are really tasty.
   Pita je punjena filom od sira i spanaća. — The pie is filled with a cheese and spinach filling.

Most often a cream for cakes, but it can be savoury too (fil od sira, fil od mesa). Nadev is a close synonym, more often used of stuffing for peppers, pies or meat.
