2. main; chief
   Ona igra vodeću ulogu u novoj seriji. — She plays the lead role in the new series.
   Vodeća tema ovogodišnjeg festivala je ekologija. — The main theme of this year's festival is ecology.
3. (in a competition) leading; in the lead
   Vodeći tim na tabeli sinoć je izgubio. — The team at the top of the table lost last night.

The same form is also the adverbial participle of voditi: vodeći računa means "taking care, bearing in mind".
