tešiti

1. to console; to comfort
   Majka je tešila uplakano dete. — The mother was comforting her crying child.
   Nemoj da me tešiš, znam da sam pogrešio. — Don't try to console me, I know I was wrong.
2. (tešiti se + instr.) to console oneself; to take comfort
   Tešim se mišlju da će sve brzo proći. — I comfort myself with the thought that it will all pass soon.
   Teši se time što je bar pokušao. — He takes comfort in the fact that he at least tried.

The perfective is utešiti; tešiti se usually takes the instrumental (mišlju, time što…).
