pucanj

1. (of a weapon) shot; gunshot
   Usred noći smo čuli dva pucnja. — In the middle of the night we heard two shots.
   Trka počinje startnim pucnjem. — The race starts with the starting gun.
2. (in football) shot
   Golman je odbranio snažan pucanj sa dvadeset metara. — The goalkeeper saved a powerful shot from twenty metres.

In football šut is more common; pucanj sounds more emphatic.
