2. (of a reaction, words) exaggerated; over the top
   Njegova reakcija je bila malo preterana. — His reaction was a bit over the top.
   Nije preterano reći da je genije. — It's no exaggeration to say he's a genius.

The adverb preterano often means "too, overly": nije preterano skup — "not particularly expensive".
