1. bed; berth
   Hotel ima dvesta ležaja. — The hotel has two hundred beds.
   Rezervisao sam ležaj u noćnom vozu za Bar. — I booked a berth on the night train to Bar.
2. (in machinery) bearing
   Majstor kaže da treba promeniti ležaj na točku. — The mechanic says the wheel bearing needs replacing.
   Mašina za veš lupa jer je pukao ležaj. — The washing machine is banging because a bearing has gone.

In the sense of "bed", ležaj is often used as a unit of capacity in hotels and hospitals.
