2. (in music) scale
   Učenici danas vežbaju durske lestvice. — The students are practising major scales today.
3. (diminutive of lestve, usually plural) small ladder
   Popeo se uz lestvice da dohvati gornju policu. — He climbed the small ladder to reach the top shelf.

For "ladder" people usually say lestve or merdevine; lestvica (mostly plural lestvice) is a diminutive, "small ladder". On its own, lestvica mostly means "scale, ranking" or "musical scale".
