3. (of a sentence) to serve
   On trenutno izdržava kaznu od pet godina. — He is currently serving a five-year sentence.
4. (without an object) to hold out; to persevere
   Teško je, ali nekako izdržavamo. — It's hard, but somehow we're holding out.

In the senses 'to endure' and 'to serve a sentence', the perfective is izdržati; 'to support oneself' is izdržavati se.
