1. (city or municipal council) council member; councillor
   Gradski većnik je zadužen za saobraćaj. — The city councillor is in charge of transport.
   Novi većnici su izabrani na sednici skupštine. — The new council members were elected at the assembly session.
2. (historical) council member; delegate
   Moj pradeda je bio većnik AVNOJ-a. — My great-grandfather was a delegate of AVNOJ.

In Serbia a većnik sits on the city or municipal council (gradsko/opštinsko veće, an executive body), while an odbornik is a member of the city assembly (skupština grada).
