1. (of learning) course; class
   Upisala sam tečaj nemačkog jezika. — I signed up for a German course.
   Tečaj traje tri meseca. — The course lasts three months.
2. Croat. (of currency) exchange rate
   Tečaj dolara jutros je pao. — The dollar exchange rate fell this morning.

For an educational course, tečaj is also used in Serbian, though kurs is more usual in Serbia (also obuka for training). For an exchange rate, tečaj is characteristic of Croatian usage; in Serbia kurs is usual.
