   Pažljivo je proučio jelovnik, pa je naručio pljeskavicu. — He studied the menu carefully and ordered a pljeskavica.
3. (of study material) to study thoroughly; to learn
   Moram da proučim još tri poglavlja do ispita. — I still have to study three more chapters before the exam.

The imperfective is proučavati; for everyday school learning učiti is more usual.
