2. (complete darkness) pitch darkness
   Nestala je struja i u stanu je pomrčina. — The power went out and it's pitch dark in the flat.

In the sense 'eclipse' the word is Croatian; in Serbia: pomračenje — pomračenje Sunca / Meseca for a solar / lunar eclipse. In the sense 'pitch darkness' pomrčina is used in Serbia too.
